Emergency services were called out to a large blaze at the former Burlish School, off Windermere Way, in Stourport, at around 2pm.

But just hours later, at around 3.40pm, they were called to the nearby former Burlish Park Golf Club, in Zortech Avenue, to reports of another fire.

Photos and video on social media show plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky from the former school fire.

A Stourport Safer Neighbourhood Watch Team spokesman said: "If you have any information of who started the two fires in Stourport then please call police and let us know.

"Names have been mentioned by witnesses but the more info we have the better."

A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the fire started in the sixth form centre of the former school and they had sent six fire crews to the site, while four crews were sent to the former golf club.

It is not believed anyone was in the two buildings at the time.

The cause of the fires are not yet known.

Stourport Safer Neighbourhood Team posted on Facebook: "Large fire at the old Burlish School in Stourport. Please keep all windows & doors closed.

"Please note spectators will be moved away. Smoke from burning buildings is highly toxic.

"If you saw anyone inside before the blaze started, please call West Mercia Police on 101 with information."

Another post later reported: "Reports of another fire on Burlish top golf course.

Again, please keep all windows & doors closed."
