Man assaulted and threatened with knife in Kidderminster

A man was threatened with a knife in an assault in Kidderminster.

Police have launched an investigation into the assault in Lea Street, Kidderminster, on Monday night

The victim was walking along Lea Street, near the town centre, at around 11pm on Monday evening when the assault took place.

He was approached by two men – who are then believed to have seriously assaulted the victim and threatened him with a knife.

The two men then stole the victim's wallet and phone – before leaving the area in the direction of Kidderminster train station.

The victim, a man in his 60s, sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, but is now recovering at home.

West Mercia Police officers have now launched an investigation into the assault.

Detective Constable Paul Lofthouse, from West Mercia Police, said: "This is believed to be an isolated incident, investigations are ongoing and we are appealing for any witnesses to this assault, which left a man requiring hospital treatment, to please come forward.

"If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please call West Mercia Police."

Anyone with information, or who witnessed the assault in Lea Street should call officers on 101, quoting incident reference number 001S of December 3.
