Barry Brettell, aged 66, from Brierley Hill was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision on October 22.

He was cycling on the A449 in Hartlebury, Kidderminster, with a friend when the pair were struck.

It happened at around 11.15am and the second cyclist, from Hagley, sustained shoulder injuries and was taken to hospital before later being released.

The pair were experienced cyclists and had completed many rides for charities, having ridden together for more than 30 years.

In a statement, his family said: "We are completely devastated by the loss of Barry.

"He was the trailblazer of the family, he was inspirational, energetic, 'the problem solver' - he could fix just about everything, taught most of the family how to drive and was a wonderful family orientated man.

"He leaves behind so many loved ones including his wife, a daughter and son-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law, four grandsons and a sister, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

"The love for his wife, Lynda, was incomparable and to say he's left a massive hole for the family to fill is an understatement.

"Upon his retirement last year, he started watching Stourbridge Football Club, never before a football fan, he really got into both home and away matches with his son, son-in-law, grandchildren and friends.

"We would like to thank the emergency services for the care and respect they have given both Barry and the family.

"Also, to the many friends and neighbours who have passed on their thoughtful and caring messages, flowers and many, many cards.

"We have been completely overwhelmed by the ongoing show of love and support for us."

Police are continuing to investigate the collision and anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident 215s of October 22.
