Elderly woman hit by van in Tettenhall in 'stable condition'

An elderly woman who suffered life-threatening head injuries after being hit by a van in Tettenhall is now stable, police have said.

The junction was sealed off as officers attended.

A cordon was put in place at the junction of High Street and Upper Street on Friday after the incident.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 11.53am, with the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford also attending.

The victim received specialist trauma care at the scene and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she remains.

Police said the van driver stopped at the scene following the collision.
