The red Ford Focus smashed into the wall outside a home on Fawdry Street in the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton.

The incident happened at a home opposite The Stile Inn pub after the car came around the corner at Harrow Street.

It happened at around 5.25pm yesterday and police were called to the crash.

The garden wall was destroyed as the car came to rest over it, just in front of the house.

A drain pipe can be seen disconnected from the home after being knocked out of place, but it is not believed that any structural damage was caused to the home.

The driver fled the scene and police are currently investigating the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police were called after a car hit a wall in Fawdry Street, Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton, at around 5.25pm yesterday.

"The car had been abandoned when officers arrived.

"Anyone with information is asked to call police via live chat at www.west-midlands.pnn.police.uk between 8am and midnight or call 101 anytime. Quote log number 2008 of September 12."

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Fire Service both confirmed that neither of them were called to the crash.
