£53k raised by Wolverhampton Race for Life

More than 1,000 people took part in Wolverhampton's Race for Life and raised £53,000.

The fundraisers took part in the 5K event at West Park on Sunday to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

A spokeswoman for the event said: "A big thank you to all the wonderful volunteers at Wolverhampton Race for Life! The support was fantastic and we simply couldn’t do the event without you.

"The event saw over 1,000 people take part to raise over £53,600 for lifesaving research - thank you!"

Dudley's 5K run will take place on July 7 from 11am at Himley Hall in Himley Park. Adult entries are £14.99 and entries for children are £10.

Cancer Research UK's Pretty Muddy event in Sandwell will take place on September 28 at Sandwell Valley Country Park.

The event starts at 10.30am and adult entry is £19.99 while children are £10.

Entrants must be aged 13 or over.
