Memphis Smokehouse, which is the brainchild of local businessman Simon Parton, has launched in Aspen Way, Merridale.

Mr Parton sponsors the E&S Wolves Podcast via his building merchants Wolverhampton Building Supplies.

He invited Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers and digital sports editor Nathan Judah down to the new restaurant to check out the new menu, which features three daredevil man versus food-style challenges.

People can take on a giant 8lb burger, eat a humongous hotdog or brave the restaurant’s suicide chicken wings challenge, said to be made with the world's hottest sauce.

A percentage of money from the challenges is donated to charity and anyone who completes them will receive a t-shirt and a picture on the wall of fame. Anyone who can eat the 8lb burger wins £250.

Mr Parton said: “We’re offering a traditional smokehouse with a modern twist.

“We’re serving the finest, local cuts of meat preparing a fresh and delicious menu.

“The food challenges are a bit of fun and I’m looking forward to seeing people take them on. Having tried the extremely hot sauce I can assure you it’s not for the faint-hearted!”

Visit www.memphissmokehouse.co.uk to order online or make a reservation. Alternatively the restaurant is on Just Eat and has its own app.
