City MP Pat McFadden said he was "appalled" appalled by the thefts which have threatened to disrupt Bilston in Bloom. Organisers are now appealing for donations to help replace items stolen from St Leonard's Church, worth around £250.

Mr McFadden said: “It is appalling that someone would steal the plants and soil intended for Bilston in Bloom. I would urge anyone with any information to contact the police.

"Councillor Linda Leach, Councillor Olivia Birch and the local volunteers from Bilston have put so much work into this. And it is all aimed at making our town a better place. But however destructive this act was, these thieves will not defeat us. We will keep going with Bilston in Bloom and keep working for the good of the town."
