Wolves players and university lecturers came together to promote Wolverhampton at an event in the Mander Centre.

The University of Wolverhampton, Wolves and The Mander Centre have combined again this year to host the “In the City” day, which took place on Wednesday.

The event was held in the ground-floor area of The Mander Centre and featured entertainment and activities.

Numerous free family activities were on offer including fairground games, arts and crafts, balloon modelling and a wide range of face painting and beauty demonstrations.

A range of competitions for all ages were held and visitors could meet and greet Wolves players and mascots Wolfie and Wendy and watch various interactive science demonstrations from the university’s science team.

Katharine Clough, director of external relations at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “The In the City Day provided a fantastic showcase for some of the best the city has to offer and it was a real pleasure to work closely with our partners, Wolves Football Club and the Mander Centre to create a fun and exciting day for people visiting Wolverhampton during half term.

“There was a real buzz around the city with lots of families coming along to enjoy meeting Wolves first-team players as well as getting involved in the range of activities which were on offer including fairground games, arts and crafts, beauty demos and competitions.

“The University of Wolverhampton Racing Team (UWR) showcased its Formula 3 racing car and our STEM Outreach team were unravelling the mystery of science with demonstrations. All in all it was a fantastic day that was very well attended and hopefully traders in the city will have felt the benefits of the additional footfall.”

The event was hosted by Signal 107 Radio.
