Wolverhampton Wanderers' captain Conor Coady, striker Raúl Jiménez, midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and Diogo Jota, all tried on the latest 'Good as Gold' design from True Reverie.

The brand launched earlier this month with a 'unique design' which incorporates Wolverhampton's famed Goodyears factory and Wolves.

Founders Lindsay and Tim Baker set up the brand to create 'positivity' for the city and region.

Raul Jimenez is Good as Gold

The 'Good as Gold' design was inspired by Lindsay's dad Bob Wiggan, who worked at Goodyears for 25 years – and was a turnstile operator at Molineux for six years, during the Jack Hayward era.

Bob said: “I’m immensely proud of coming from Wolverhampton because the city has a deserved reputation for being a friendly and welcoming community. This is evident in the diverse multicultural population which continues to enrich the city.”

The design has already been sported by players during training sessions at the Sir Jack Hayward training ground in Compton

Tim said: “In a day and age where Premier League clubs and football in general is often, rightly or wrongly, accused of being overly corporate and out of touch with the communities they serve, the football club have been amazingly supportive of our new venture.

Diogo Jota models the t-shirt

"Wolverhampton is a city on the up, with a lot of investment coming in, new businesses popping up and the team thriving in the Premier League.

"With True Reverie we want to celebrate our past and revel in our future, and ultimately contribute to making Wolverhampton better.

The t-shirts, which are made from 100 per cent organic and sustainable cotton, are hand screenprinted with water-based inks in the West Midlands.

And Lindsay, who grew up in Pendeford, said: "I'm a graphic designer and my other half comes from a creative background.

Bob Wiggin, who used to work for Goodyear and Wolves

“We both work in Wolverhampton and have always been fiercely proud of being from the city.

“Wolverhampton has suffered from a lot of negative press in the past. So we wanted to come up with something to put it on the map and celebrate the good things about the city.

“Growing up, wherever I went we would meet people who had worked with my dad at Goodyear and so the slogan – Good as Gold – came to us a positive message that would mean something to a lot of people.

“Wearing one of our t-shirts will give the people of Wolverhampton the chance to celebrate their city.”
