Richard Helm: Man in court charged with Ashmore Park murder

A man has been charged with the murder of Wolverhampton man Richard Helm.

Police were called to Raven Crescent, in Ashmore Park, at around 5.15am on October 12 after reports of a disturbance.

The victim, 37-year-old Mr Helm, was pronounced dead at the scene after being stabbed.

Danny Cooper has now been charged with his murder. The 31-year-old was arrested on Sunday.

Cooper, of Maytree Close, in Chelmsley Wood, appeared at Walsall Magistrates' Court this morning charged with the murder of Mr Helm.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday.

He has also been charged with two counts of assault, two counts of criminal damage and arson.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from West Midlands Police's homicide team, said: "This is such a tragic waste of a life.

"Our thoughts remain with Richard’s family who have been kept fully updated by this development."
