Midland Metro Alliance tweeted: “To celebrate the completion of this phase of the Wolverhampton city centre Metro extension, we have put together time-lapse footage of the project so far.”

The footage shows work being carried out night and day and shows the new track being laid.

A spokesperson for the Midland Metro Alliance said: “The Wolverhampton City Centre Metro extension will provide long-term benefits to the businesses and residents of Wolverhampton, and the time-lapse footage captures the progress of the project from the beginning of construction up until the reopening of Pipers Row.

“The project is part of the West Midlands Combined Authority’s ambitious plan to regenerate the region as well as part of the wider £150m Wolverhampton Interchange to regenerate the city’s transport hub.

"The Midland Metro Alliance is currently carrying out works to improve the street scene in Pipers Row, which are due to be completed by late spring, with a break in the works scheduled for late November during the city’s Christmas embargo.”
