The new queuing system had been put in place at Wolverhampton railway station after Wolves home clash with Watford on Saturday.

But a few fans were left a little disgruntled by being made to wait – with some chanting 'We are Wolverhampton and we want to go home'.

Before Saturday, there was no queuing system in place at the station after matches. But on Saturday a red metal barrier had been erected down to the doors – with staff stopping fans going through into the station, with police officers on hand.

Within ten or so minutes, fans were being allowed into the station to get on with their journeys – but some still felt the new queuing system was causing issues.

One fan said: "People used to go into the station and get to their train, then just get away. Now they are keeping us here."

Another added: "This new system is dreadful. It's absolutely stupid to do it on football day."

Len Crane said: "I don't think a lot of this system, my train is due in two minutes I think it is at the platform.

"I think it is silly. I think the system at the station was working fine before; it was congested, but it was not that bad."

James Darby said: "It worked fine before so why do this and make it more complicated? People just want to go home."

Robert Weaver said: "I was more concerned that I got to the station after the game, before the queue started, only to discover two local trains to Birmingham had been cancelled with no announcements or anything.

"So people are in station for longer and potential issues in queue and on platform. As for queue idea its brainless, given Wolves playing London opposition and cancellation of local trains. Especially as you see more congestion on any West Midlands platform at 7.30am on a weekday morning. Whose idea is this?"

West Midlands Police's force football unit for Wolverhampton Wanderers had urged fans earlier this week to leave 'plenty of time' for the trains and to 'please be patient with staff'.
