Ten firefighters tackled the blaze which is believed to have started in the kitchen of the house in Clothier Street, Temple Bar, on Thursday.

West Midlands Fire Service has now said a dog was found dead in the home, after the fire started in a dishwasher.

And a fundraising page has been set up for the family, which has raised £454 of its £500 target.

On the page it says: "In Clothier Street Willenhall, there has been an awful house fire caused by an electrical fault.

"The poor kids came home from school to no home and even lost their beloved pet dog. So on behalf of the family I have started this fundraiser for them.

"They need our help as they are now homeless and have lost everything from fire and smoke damage.

"75 per cent of the downstairs is destroyed and the rest from smoke damage. They have also lost their beautiful little doggy Harry who sadly was stuck inside and he can never be replaced.

"Please please can everyone help even if it's £1 so we can show them some love and community spirit by helping them out to get a few bits together they will need clothes and stuff especially for the kids.

"They need our help as they have lost nearly everything. Thank you."
