The group aged 17 to 19 were arrested by detectives yesterday morning, but were later released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries .

Nineteen-year-old student Rezwan Ali was found collapsed at an address in Willows Road, Willenhall, at 1.45am on Sunday January 14 having suffered a knife wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Ian Wilkins, from the force’s Homicide Unit, said: “We believe there was a fight at some stage and that has ultimately led to a young man losing his life.

“Up to 50 people may have been at the party at some stage − and each of those is likely to have important information that can help our enquiry. They may feel that because a number or people have been arrested it is the end of the matter. It’s not…and we need to hear from them.

“I would also urge the person responsible to do the right thing and get in touch so that we can hear their side of the story.

“This is a tragic loss of life and our thoughts are with Rezwan’s family and friends who are understandably shocked and distraught at what has happened."

Anyone with information, or anyone who was at the party in Willows Road, is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
