“I want him back home – we miss him a lot and it would be like all of my Christmas’ all at once if we got him back.”

Aaliyah, who suffers with epilepsy, is aiming to be reunited with her cat

A mother has launched an appeal to find a cat which signals when her epileptic daughter is having a seizure.

Eight-year-old Porky, who was bought when he was a kitten, alerts 16-year-old Aaliyah’s parents depending on how it moves.

The cat jumps on her bed, after nuzzling the girl, before moving on if she is fine – but if he stays on the bed, her parents raise the alarm, with a seizure happening not long afterwards.

Have you seen Porky?

Samantha Green, Aaliyah’s mother, said: “We realised six years ago, when he was two, that he was a ‘seizure cat’.

“When my daughter had a seizure the cat was on the bed – so we watched him a little bit more.

"He comes him everyday for food and he rubs himself alongside Aaliyah, like nuzzling, and then he sits on the end of the bed.

“He either stays there – meaning she will have a seizure – or he will go off and do his own thing.

"Every time he goes out she doesn’t have a seizure and he he remains on the end of the bed she does.”

Mrs Green, from Brownhills, Walsall, added: “She’s grown very close to him – he’s really bonded to her and that’s helped a lot or maybe he decided to band with her because she’s poorly.”

The cat failed to return home for dinner after leaving on September 4.

“She’s been very upset and we’ve had a lot more seizures because she’s worried,” she said.

The 16-year-old said she was “very sad and upset” over the loss.
