Cigarette sparks van fire near Brownhills

A cigarette sparked a van fire near Brownhills.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Lichfield Road near to the Applegreen Shelfield Service Station just before 12.30pm today.

The crew isolated the electricity and left the scene at about 12.45pm.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "It was a fire caused by a careless disposal of a cigarette.

"The electricity was isolated and the crew left shortly afterwards."

A crew of five firefighters was sent from Aldridge to the scene.
