Homes plan for old working men's club site
The site of a former working men's club will be transformed into homes after the application was given the green light by planning bosses.
Four houses and one bungalow will be built on the site of the former working men's club in Hednesford Road, Brownhills, Walsall.
Chasewater Developments was given permission for the plans by Walsall Council on Friday.
A total of 10 new car parking spaces will also be created on the site.
Councillor Kenneth Ferguson, for the Brownhills ward, welcomed the news.
He said: "It's an area where it's not interfering with any green belt.
"We need housing and the more we can get without interfering with the green belt the better.
"The working men's club has been closed for a while and if it's gone to the wall because of a decline in numbers, it's better that it becomes something else than becomes derelict.
"Various other sites have been left empty and have become a problem so it's better to pre-empt that and get some buildings there before it becomes that sort of a site."
