Petition launched to tackle problem streets in Walsall
A campaign has been launched to make an area in Walsall a one-way system to stop congestion.
Councillors in the Chuckery area have now launched a petition to change the road system to ensure emergency services vehicles can access the homes.
Councillor Rose Martin, for the Paddock ward, said there is no off-street parking and access is getting "exceedingly difficult".
She said that there is no where to pull in and if drivers meet another car down the road, and they have to reverse back down the street.
Councillor Martin added: "The Chuckery area is mainly terraced housing with no off-street parking so over the years it's become a terrible problem to try and get parking, it's extremely congested.
"Access for service vehicles like waste collection and fire is getting exceedingly difficult.
"Residents have requested their Walsall councillors request the council investigate one way system on certain roads for better access, parking for residents, emergency services and community organisations.
"A petition has already been lodged for Moncrieffe Street to ask the council to look at alleviating the problems.
"So far 54 households in Moncrieffe Street have signed it.
"We want the council to do an overall highways plan for the area, as other roads are affected.
"All we want to do is make better parking in the area for the residents."
Walsall Council has been approached to comment.
