Boy seriously injured after being hit by car in Walsall

A boy was left with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Walsall.

The incident happened on Walstead Road.

Paramedics treated the youngster, believed to be aged 12, after the collision, in Walstead Road, between The Delves and Fullbrook, at 8.27am today

It happened near the junction to West Bromwich Road.

One ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were called to the scene.

The boy, a pedestrian, was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital for further treatment.

National Express West Midlands buses were diverted in the aftermath of the collision.

The number 4, 4H and 4M services to Walsall were all affected.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "On arrival crews discovered one patient, the pedestrian, was a boy who was treated for serious injuries.

"He was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital by land ambulance."

West Midlands Police have been contacted for comment.
