Walsall Council leader Mike Bird told fly-tippers they are not welcome in the borough.

Photographs showed mounds of rubbish dumped in Spout Lane, Palfrey.

In response, Walsall Council cleaned up the rubbish on Wednesday and installed signs warning fly-tippers about the punishments they can face.

Councillor Bird told Walsall Council's cabinet meeting: "Fly-tipping costs us about £1milllion each year.

"If some people want to fly-tip in Walsall they can pack their bags and leave.

"If you would have seen Spout Lane this morning compared to now, the Eastern European club that at 10 O'clock at night, drinking club, their table and chairs have gone. They will have to stand now."
