The Saddlers Shopping Centre in Walsall hosted the event, which saw Sci-Fi stalls, cosplay competitions, and actors and props from films such as Harry Potter, Star Wars and Doctor Who.

The event attracted people from children to adults from all over the West Midlands.

Danny Phillips, spokesman for the event, said the shopping centre saw footfall increase by around 6,000 on Saturday alone because of the event.

He said: "We had two different cosplay competitions, one for under 12s and one for adults.

"The first children's competition was absolutely rammed, the traders have done really really well too.

"It's just a great fun event and we've got lots of charities here raising a lot of money too.

"The customers seem to be loving it.

"There's been about 6,000 more people here than usual and around 300 people dressed up."

Along with the competitions and stalls there were actors from popular films such as Harry Potter, The Joker, and Deadpool.

"The beauty of this type of event is anyone of any age can join in. One of the young girls taking part in the cosplay competition was dressed as the new Doctor Who which is great," Mr Phillips added.

"We've also had The Joker, Deadpool, Harry Potter characters, people dressed as all sorts.

"We also had four actors from films such as Star Wars, Harry Potter and Doctor Who and the actual Dalek props too.

"We're hoping to make it an annual event, or maybe even two times a year, bigger and better than this one too."
