Police tweeted a picture of the commuter on the M6 at Junction 10 this morning, saying the man had only moved to the UK a month ago and did not know the area.

The man was educated by the police before being allowed to continue his commute to work.

The tweet said: "Far from the first time we’ve had to deal with this. Bicycles have no place on the motorway. Now safely removed from the M6 J10 and dealt with. #ridesafe.

"In this case, the man with the bike only moved to the UK a month ago and didn’t know the area. He was suitably advised and educated before being allowed to continue his commute to work, once escorted from the motorway."
