Angie Rothery and others search for missing Charlie

It has been over a month since the macaw, named Charlie, went missing from Angie and Adrian Rothery’s home in Rushall, Walsall.

Since then, search parties have been organised with dozens of people taking part. The appeal has also been shared more than 4,000 times on Facebook.

But with Charlie still missing, the reward has been upped from £1,000 to £1,500.

Mr Rothery told the Express & Star: "The search has been widened. We are still concentrating on the local area but we understand there is a possibility she may have gone further afield.

"There has been no positive sightings recently which is disheartening. I am getting a little bit tired and I think Angie is getting a bit depressed.

"We had a message yesterday that there was a dead parrot at the side of the road but it was just a rubber glove.

"We are cutting back on calls of people saying they heard a strange bird. We need people to see the blue and yellow and ideally take a picture. If we get a sighting then we can concentrate the search, we are a bit scattered at the moment."

The parrot, a blue and gold macaw, used to go on holiday with it’s owners, going everywhere from St Tropez to Cornwall.

The two-year-old, which can say ‘stop it’, ‘do you want this’ and ‘hello’, is defined by its long tail and four foot wing span.

People are meeting at Walsall Arboretum at 11am on Saturday to help look for Charlie. All are welcome to attend and help with the search.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Rotherys on 07771 890720.
