Plans have been submitted to transform the former King Edward VI Grammar School, in Newport Road, Stafford, into five flats with a fitness and social facility.

In the plans it says: "The proposal includes conversion of part of a two/three storey classroom wing fronting Newport Road for five single bedroom apartments and for conversion of a section of the two storey classroom wing fronting Friars’ Road and the restoration with no physical changes to the interior fabric of the octagonal assembly hall for a fitness and social area."

Work would also include removing "harmful extensions", roof repairs, masonry repairs, masonry cleaning and refurbishment of casement and sash windows.

Stafford Borough Council will consider the plans in the coming weeks.
