Delays of up to 60 minutes were reported southbound from Junction 14 to 13 as a result of the four-vehicle collision which happened just before 1pm.

One patient, a man, was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton by land ambulance with injuries "not believed to be life-threatening".

An air ambulance was sent to the scene but was not needed to transport any casualties.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 12.56pm to reports of a multi-vehicle RTC on the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junctions 14 and 13 in Stafford.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene. Two patients were assessed and one patient, a man, was conveyed to New Cross Hospital by land ambulance with injuries not believed to life-threatening."

One lane was closed as a result of the crash but all lanes are now back open.
