The trail has remained partially closed as a precautionary measure following the death of Neville Scattergood, but will reopen today after highways crews completed the main site works this afternoon.

Although some minor footpath work still need to be completed early next week, barriers are being removed today and the whole trail will be open to members of the public for the weekend.

Philip Atkins, leader of Staffordshire County Council, said: “Our highways engineers have been on site for the last couple of weeks carrying out inspections along the trail and I am pleased to say it will now be fully reopened in time for the weekend.

“Following the tragic death of Mr Scattergood it was important that we carried out a thorough inspection of the trail and I would like to thank residents for their co-operation and patience while this was done.”

The Isabel Trail ParkRun for tomorrow is cancelled.
