The Katharine House 10k and 5k, which was due to take place at Shugborough on Sunday, has been called off as the course is waterlogged due to the recent heavy rain.

An online post from the hospice said: "We’re extremely disappointed to have to cancel our 10k run and 5k fun run which was due to take place on Sunday 6th October.

"We have been informed by Shugborough that the course is waterlogged due to the recent torrential rain, further rain is forecast over the next few days.

"We are very sorry that this will be disappointing news but the safety of our supporters, staff and volunteers is our first priority and as such we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

"The run raises a substantial amount of funds which go directly to providing our free care so to cancel any event is devastating.

"All those who have registered for the event are being notified by email."

If you have registered for the run and would like your registration fee refunding or would like to discuss other options contact the Katharine House fundraising team on 01785 270808 or email fundraising@khhospice.org.uk
