Driver cut from car and taken to hospital after crash on A34 near Stafford

A woman had to be cut from her car and taken to hospital after a crash on the main road between Stafford and Stone.

The two-car crash closed A34 southbound while emergency services were on the scene at about 6pm yesterday.

Two people were treated by paramedics after the crash, a woman in her 20s was cut from her car by firefighters and was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with injuries not believed to be serious, while a man in his 30s suffered minor injuries and declined hospital treatment.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 6.04pm to reports of a two-car road traffic collision on the A34 between Stafford and Stone and one ambulance attended.

"We treated two patients, a man in his 30s suffered minor injuries who was the driver of one of the vehicles, he was given treatment on the scene but declined hospital treatment.

"The second patient, a woman in her 20s, the driver of the second vehicle, was extricated with help from the fire service and sustained injuries not believed to be serious and was given treatment before being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital."
