Firefighters put out Rugeley grass fire after laughing gas cannisters found
Fire crews were called to a grass fire in Rugeley after people were drinking and taking drugs.
Officers were called to Etching Hill Road in the village of Etchinghill on Friday night after an area of land caught fire.
Residents on Facebook posted photos the next morning which showed the scorched earth alongside broken glass beer bottles and nitrous oxide cannisters, known as laughing gas.
A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Fire Service said: "Crews were called at 9.11pm to reports of a fire on Etching Hill Road.
"A 40 x 40 metre area of land was on fire.
"A hose reel jet was used and firefighters left the scene at 10.25pm."
One Facebook user said: "Thanks to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue for putting out the fire on Etching Hill.
"Hope the ambulance service were not needed for anyone who has been inhaling gas up there.
"What an awful waste of resources and tax payers' money dealing with these issues."
