Rugeley Power Station is set to be transformed into a sustainable village

Members of the community around the site have been invited to an initial meeting to continue the discussion about the plan, which includes a 2,000-home ‘sustainable village’ on the site, along with new schools, employment hubs and a public park.

The event will provide an opportunity for local people to continue their involvement in shaping the regeneration of the power station site and discuss its potential outcomes for the surrounding area.

The first meeting of the Renaissance Forum, to which everyone is welcome, will take place on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Brereton and Ravenhill Parish Hall.

The event is being hosted by master planners and architects JTP on behalf ENGIE.

ENGIE’s project manager, Chris Riches, said: “We were delighted with the turnout at the recent community planning weekend and proud that we can initiate the creation of the Renaissance Forum.

"It demonstrated that there is a desire to see the power station site development proceed, to create a space which is harmonious with its surroundings; working for both the local community as well as the people who will live and work at the site.

"Through the Renaissance Forum we hope to provide a catalyst to achieve this - via continued community engagement and feedback.”

Further Renaissance Forum meetings will include an exhibition in March 2019, ahead of a planning submission later in the spring.
