Pedestrian hit by lorry on M6 named as Penkridge man
A man who died after being hit by a lorry on the M6 yesterday has been named as a 40-year-old from Penkridge.
Pedestrian Richard Langford was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Junction 11 for Cannock and Wolverhampton, Staffordshire Police confirmed today.
The collision happened shortly after midnight on Thursday in the southbound carriageway, which was closed for around five hours while collision investigators examined the road.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Our thoughts are with Richard's family at this sad and difficult time.
"They are receiving the appropriate care and support from specially trained officers and have asked for their privacy to be respected."
Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit are still exploring the circumstances of the collision.
