Lichfield man, 21, jailed after drugs and knife found in car
A Lichfield man has been jailed for three years after police found drugs and a kitchen knife during a search of his car.
Rhys Cowan pleaded guilty at Stafford Crown Court to offering to a range of drug offences and possessing a knife.
The court heard that on February 3, police had routinely stopped a Toyota Aygo in Ivanhoe Road, in Lichfield, at around 4pm. The car was searched and cannabis vegetation, £200 in cash, two mobile phones and a kitchen knife were confiscated.
Further items were seized during a house search.
The 21-year-old was arrested for possession with intent to supply drugs and possession of a knife.
Cowan, of Dovehouse Fields, pleaded guilty to offering to supply class A drugs, possession with intent to supply class B drugs and offering to supply class B and class C drugs.
At Stafford Crown Court on March 12, Cowan was jailed for three years.
He was also sentenced for possessing a knife and given an additional three months for committing an offence while on a suspended sentence.
Sergeant Karen Green, of Lichfield District Neighbouring Policing Team, said: "This is a significant result and we’re glad for the support of the local community.
“Cowan was jailed as a result of an effective stop and search and an ongoing operation conducted by police community support officers (PCSOs) who worked with the local community to gather evidence and build a case.”
