Amanda Milling, MP for Cannock Chase, said she will also be putting pressure on West Midlands Trains to fix issues with timetables and employ more staff on the £200m Chase Line – which connects Rugeley, Hednesford and Cannock with Walsall and Birmingham.

The line has been plagued with problems since electrified trains were launched on it last May and will be drastically scaled down this year as a result.

Ms Milling said: "The full changes aren't coming in until May so it's a deep frustration and I will continue to put pressure on transport ministers and West Midlands Trains.

"I do not want to see passengers stranded on the line in winter, it's been so disruptive.

"The electrification is a good thing, it's the timetabling and staffing of the trains that is causing the problem.

"West Midlands Trains really need to address the underlying issues so we can get the benefits of the line."
