Blood and deer organs found as poachers return to Cannock Chase

Poachers appear to have killed two deer before dragging them to a car on Cannock Chase

Bloodstained grass was spotted by a member of the public near to the Chase Corner car park on Sunday.

Rangers later found the internal organs of two deer nearby, as well as a substantial amount of blood.

Staffordshire Police is now asking for anyone with information, or who may have seen any suspicious activity on Cannock Chase over the weekend, to contact them.

Pc Darren Wilkes, from Staffordshire Police, said: "On Sunday, December 1, a member of the public reported bloodstained grass near to Chase Corner car park, in Chase Road, Cannock Chase.

“The ranger confirmed that the internal organs of two deer were found along with a substantial amount of blood.

“It would appear that the poachers have dragged the animals to a nearby vehicle on Chase Road.

“We believe that this has happened at some point over the weekend.”
