Mr Gumbley, aged 87, died in hospital on December 12, three weeks after he was badly beaten and robbed in his own home in Little Aston on November 21.

Staffordshire Police has released four images of two men who they believe may know something about where Mr Gumbley's stolen possessions are.

Detective inspector Dan Ison said: "We have had a great response from the public and the information has helped us move nearer to closing this case.

"However the information we have received so far has been from an anonymous source, preventing us from taking a statement and building a solid case.

"If you are the person providing information anonymously, please come forward to the police to help us bring those responsible for this despicable crime to justice.

"Your identity will be protected throughout the criminal justice process, your name or face would never be shown in public and we would provide you with the reassurance you need to remain safe whilst doing the right thing."

Mr Gumbley was in good health before the attack where he had been repeatedly punched and kicked and then left on the floor of his home.

Pictures of him badly beaten and bruised following the attack sparked outrage from the public.

It is believed the burglary took place between 6pm and 9pm when thieves ransacked the house at Endwood Drive.

They stole jewellery and cash as well as a purse that belonged to his late wife.

National charity Crimestoppers is offering £10,000 in cash for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible.

Two men and a woman were arrested last week but have since been released on conditional bail.

Anyone with information has been urged to call 101 quoting incident number 828 of 21 November.
