In a flap! Swan spotted sat in the fast lane of the M6

Officials helped shoo off the swan with a little gentle persuasion after briefly closing the carriageway.

Highways England had to act after the bird landed in lane three northbound at junction eight for the M5 link between Great Barr and West Bromwich.

The swan was pictured on motorway cameras in the middle of the lane.

Drivers were urged to approach with caution.

All lanes were reopened at around 10.25am.
