The man needed advanced trauma care following the incident on a busy main road in Tipton yesterday.

The crash happened on the A4037 Leabrook Road at its junction with Bagnall Street in Ocker Hill, Tipton, at 4.45pm.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a critical care paramedic and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.

The road was closed in both directions while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance staff arrived to find a pedestrian, a man, who had sustained serious injuries after being hit a car.

“The team administered advanced trauma care on scene before the man was conveyed on blue lights and sirens to a major trauma centre for further emergency care.”
