The unsettling incident took place in Stuart Road as the St Michael's Church of England High School pupil walked home.

It is reported that the man, who wasn't known to the girl, drove past her before turning around and opening his window to ask: "Are you sure you want to be walking alone darling?"

The student then ran away from the car.

St Michael's posted the incident on their website saying the man was described as Asian, in his mid-50s, with a grey stubble beard, short grey hair and wearing a dark coloured jumper.

He was driving a silver or grey 4x4 with tinted windows.

The incident unfolded happened between 3.10pm and 3.15pm on Monday.
