Driver flees after crashing into cars and lamppost in Oldbury

A driver fled the scene of a crash after hitting three parked cars and a lamppost in Oldbury.

The crash took place shortly before midnight on Sunday on Hadley Street.

Emergency services were called to the scene – but discovered the driver of the VW Polo was not there.

Residents reported that the crash left several cars damaged in the street.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called by police to reports of a road traffic collision in Hadley Street at around 12.01am on Monday morning.

"One car had hit three cars and a lamppost. The driver of the car had left the scene.

"We made the scene safe and left it with the police and council."

A West Midlands Police spokesman added: "Police were called to reports of a VW Polo hitting stationary vehicles and a lamppost in Hadley Street, at just before midnight on Sunday.

"Officers attended and the found the car abandoned."
