Grenade scare shuts road in Oldbury

The discovery of a suspected World War Two grenade sparked a road closure in Oldbury.

Penncricket Lane was shut at about 6pm today after the find was reported to police.

The bomb disposal unit turned out to the scene to check the device which was found not to be live and the road was reopened before 7pm.

West Midland Police force response tweeted: "We closed Penncricket Lane because of a suspected World War Grenade being found."
