Tadeusz Ondycz, 32, and Marta Dombrowska, 26, have both been charged with human trafficking and holding a person in slavery or servitude – under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 – plus one count of fraud by false representation.

The couple, of Willes Road in Winson Green, Birmingham, have appeared before magistrates in the city and been remanded in custody.

It is alleged they arranged the victim's travel to Birmingham from Poland and secured work for him in the Black Country.

Police said it is believed the 47-year-old victim worked at sites in Dudley and Oldbury.

Ondycz and Dombrowska are next set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on November 10.
