Elderly woman taken to hospital after collision in Great Barr

An elderly woman was taken to hospital after a collision with a van in Great Barr earlier today.

It happened near Chapel Lane in Great Barr

The pedestrian suffered 'potentially serious injuries' following the incident at about 2pm, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

Witnesses said West Midlands Police taped off the area where it happened on Birmingham Road right by the junction with Chapel Lane near Great Barr War Memorial Hall.

It is believed the 90-year-old woman was hit by something falling from the van.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth hospital with a head injury.
