A total of 10 firefighters were called to the junction of Doulton Road and Gawne Lane at around 3.10pm today after the smash.

The driver of the Mercedes car, in his 20s, was left with injuries not believed to be serious and was taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further treatment.

Only one patient was treated at the scene, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

Fire crews from Oldbury and Brierley Hill made the scene safe – and urged people to take care when driving in wet conditions.

West Midlands Police officers were also at the scene.
