Police rush to reported Stourbridge stabbing which turns out to be hoax call
Police officers have hit out at people wasting their time after emergency services rushed to the scene of a reported stabbing – which turned out to be a hoax call.
West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service had rushed to the scene in Lye, Stourbridge, after a call reporting a stabbing in the area.
Three ambulances and four police response vehicles raced to the scene – before it became apparent that the call was a hoax.
West Midlands Police's Force Response team took to social media highlighting the waste of emergency services' time that could have been needed for someone who had been injured.
They said: "Three ambulances and four police response vehicles attending a report of a stabbing in Lye, Stourbridge.
"The call was a hoax and has used all these valuable services that are needed elsewhere."
Other social media responded, saying: "Unbelievable. What a waste of time and resources.
"Do these people have no conscience or have anything better to do with their time. Well done for the response time to the 'incident' will they ever learn hoaxes cost lives."
Another added: "Disgusting behaviour."
