Top marks for drummer boy Harry
A 14-year-old boy from the Black Country is the first student in 20 years to receive 100 per cent in a drum exam at his music academy.
Harry Flavell, from Sedgley, has recently attained full marks in his grade 4 drum exam making him the first student at the Midland Music Academy since 1999 to achieve 100 per cent.
The Dormston School pupil has been learning to play the drums for the last 12 months and then took the exam earlier this month.
Harry’s mother Alison Flavell said: “Harry just decided one day that he wanted to learn the drums, he just took to it and picked it up so easily.
WATCH Harry on the drums:
“We bought him an electric drum set so he could play through his earphones, this definitely helped with the noise!”
Harry was invited to play at the Tettenhall Woodstock live music event where local groups and performers showcase their talent.
Ms Flavell said: “I’m really chuffed, it’s brilliant news. We are so proud of him.”
The young musician takes lessons at the Midland Music Academy in Wolverhampton.
Harry said: “I got into the drums because I just wanted to do something new and I just took to it straight away.
“I never expected to do so well, I was just expecting maybe a merit.”
