Woman seriously injured in Halesowen hit-and-run

A woman has been left with life-changing injuries after a hit-and-run in the Black Country.

The pedestrian was struck by a blue Audi on Long Lane, in Halesowen, at around 8.30pm on Friday night.

The 52-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with a head injury and is currently in a very serious condition.

She is undergoing emergency treatment and her injuries are thought to be life-changing.

The driver of the Audi fled the scene after the crash.

A 26-year-old man was arrested from an address in Oldbury at 11pm on Friday night. He is being held in custody on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Detective Sergeant Alan Hands, from West Midlands Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A woman is in a serious condition in hospital, awaiting major surgery and we want to establish exactly how that happened.

“I appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch."
