Man seriously injured after being hit by car in Coseley

A man has been seriously injured after he was hit by a car in Black Country.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Skidmore Road at around 10.15pm on Wednesday.

The man suffered very serious injuries and was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, for further treatment, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said.

The driver of the car was also treated at the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.14pm to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Skidmore Road.

"On arrival at the scene we discovered a man, the pedestrian, who had suffered very serious injuries in the incident. He received specialist trauma care at the scene before being transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham for further treatment.

"The driver of the car, a woman, was treated for the effects of shock and discharged at the scene.

"One ambulance, a MERIT trauma doctor and a rapid response vehicle attended."
