The emergency vehicle was responding to a 999 call and had its blue lights and sirens on when it was involved in the collision with a car last night

It was crossing the junction of The Boulevard and Coppice Lane when the impact of the crash saw the ambulance end up on its side.

Another ambulance, from West Midlands Ambulance Service, was sent to the scene – along with West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said said: "The two ambulance crew members, who were uninjured, were already out of the vehicle rendering aid to the two occupants in the car when colleagues arrived.

“The car driver, a man, was uninjured. The passenger, a woman, was given treatment on scene after suffering relatively minor injuries before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment.

“West Midlands Ambulance Service will be working with West Midlands Police to establish exactly what happened."
