Brierley Hill-based Lions Boxing Club and RNL Gentlemen's Hairdressers have worked together to collect toiletries and other products for Black Country Women's Aid and Loaves N Fishes.

The two charities, who work with vulnerable people across the region, will use the donations to provide some Christmas cheer for people in need across the Black Country.

Regional Fundraising officer Deborah Slater joined representatives of Lions Boxing Club and RNL Gentlemen's Hairdressers at the boxing club on Bull Street to pick up the donations.

These included more than 40 bags of toiletries and 200 bags of clothes and toys which were donated by people from all parts of the region.

The collection was put together by Ben Taylor from RNL Gentlemen Hairdressers and Lions Boxing Club owner Kev Dhillon, who spoke about what it meant to be able to help out people at this time of year.

He said: "It's wonderful to be able to do this and to look after our own people as it's a human objective to help people.

"Ben came to me about this and I suggested using the network we have connected to the club, so we've been able to do a lot of good and help hundreds of people.

"It's wonderful as well to have the majority of donations come from working class people, who don't always have the most themselves, but prove to be the most generous people."
